Community Enhancement Grant

The club are grateful to Kerry County Council who awarded the club a grant under the Community Enhancement Programme for 2021.  As a result, we have been able to purchase a sliotar holder for each and every team. The holders make it much easier to sanitise the sliotars and are also a useful way of keeping count of them after each session. Thank you again to Kerry Co Co.

U7 Boys and Girls

The boys and girls had another great training session last Saturday in the MTU Sports Hall from 3 until 4pm. The players were guided by their coaches through their drills and ended the session as always with an extremely competitive match.  The determination and improvement in the players was evident to all.  Congratulations to this weeks players of the week: Jack Whelan and Evan Lucid.  There will be no training next Saturday.  New players are always welcome.  Equipment is available to borrow and membership is not required while trying it out for a few weeks.
Senior Hurlers
Tralee Parnells 0-07 Crotta 2-20
Last Sunday afternoon in Caherslee, Tralee Parnells senior hurlers suffered a heavy defeat to a strong Crotta side in Round 2 of the Co. Senior Hurling League. Missing six of their starting players, who were all on duty with the Kerry hurlers earlier in the day, this was always going to be a tough ask for Parnells and so it proved. In very heavy underfoot conditions, Crotta were on top in most areas of the field, keeping the scoreboard ticking over, despite some good defending from Parnells. Crotta had the only goal of the half, scored by corner forward Sean McGrath. Parnells response was two pointed frees by team captain, Gearoid O’Doherty (Doc).
Half Time: Tralee Parnells 0-2 Crotta 1-9
The second half went very much the way of the first half with Crotta emphasising their superiority with some good point scoring, though Parnells were guilty of conceding a lot of needless frees which were converted by Crotta. Parnells did keep battling and threatened the Crotta goal on one or two occasions. Parnells added 5 points in the second half, 4 frees from Doc and a great score from Cillian Litchfield which was deflected over the bar. Following some good defending by Parnells and a goalmouth scramble, Crotta hit the net again with what was to be the final puck of the game. This was a tough result to take but credit must be given to all the players who stood up on the day and played their hearts out.
Final score: Tralee Parnells 0-7 Crotta 2-20
Scorers for Parnells: G. Doherty (0-6f), C Litchfield (0-1)
Team as they lined out: Mark Ryall, Darragh Moloney, Tim Kelliher, Tadhg Reen, Stephen Morrissey, Ciaran Breen, Luke Chester, Andrew Morrissey, Cillian Litchfield, Jack Doyle, Niall Cassidy, Paul Daly, Donal O’Brien, Barry Lyons, Gearoid O’Doherty.
