Weekly Notes 17-8-22

Greyhound Night Fundraiser

Our “Buster Race Fundraiser” scheduled for last Saturday evening had to be postponed as racing was cancelled due to the warm weather. The good news is that it is now rescheduled for next Saturday afternoon 20th August with the first race at 2.45pm. The even better news is that the Roses will be in attendance, so it will be a chance for all of our boys and girls to show off their skills and get their photo taken with the Roses.

All tickets purchased will be valid for entry at the new date and time and tickets are still available to purchase during the week. Please contact any member of the organising committee or Executive for a ticket – €10 will get you entry to the track, where there will be lots of spot prizes on offer and a possibility of winning €500 in the Buster Race. Kids under 14 go free. This is a family fun event and we invite everyone to what should be a fantastic day in Kingdom greyhound track.

U7s and U9s

Last Monday evening, with the sun soaring down on them our under 7’s and under 9’s travelled to Crotta for a few fantastic games of hurling. The display of hurling put on by these players was a beauty to behold as they flew the flag for the mighty Parnells, well done boys we are very proud of you all.

Cúl Camps

Well done to all participants and coaches who attended the Parnells Cúl camps in Caherslee last week. Over 80 boys and girls were registered and it was great to see all the skills on display, even with the hot weather conditions. Maith sibh go léir.

Sympathy

Tralee Parnells Hurling and Camogie Club would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Kevin Hannafin and his partner Aoife on the recent death of their baby daughter Éabha. Ar dheis Dé go raibh bhúr aingeal álainn Éabha.

Under 18s

Tralee Parnells 3-12 Lixnaw 5-15

Our U18 team played their second match in the North Kerry League last Sunday morning in Caherslee. In warm conditions, both sides served up an entertaining match. As Lixnaw were short on numbers, Parnells agreed to play 13-a-side. This actually worked to Lixnaw’s advantage in the first half as the extra space gave their speedy forwards plenty of room to run at the Parnells defence. Parnells opened brightly with a couple of points and a goal from Dylan Cunningham, but Ivan Conway and Keltan Molloy were causing all sorts of problems for Parnells and they were combining well to score 3 goals of their own and had built up a healthy lead at half time. Some astute changes at half time resulted in Parnells owning the play before the second water break. Two goals from Cillian Litchfield, including a well-struck penalty, had the margin down to 5 points. Unfortunately, Parnells momentum was interrupted and Lixnaw found their rhythm again to score another goal and a few points before the full time whistle. Well done to both teams on a great match and in particular to the Parnells lads who fought until the final whistle.
