Scór na nÓg

Pride of place goes to our Tráth na gCeist Scór na nÓg team of Dan Maloney, Brian Reidy, Oisin O’Sullivan & Donnacha Buttimer and their bainisteoir Damien Kissane, who qualified for the All Ireland final in the INEC on Sunday 3rd May. At the Munster Final in Cashel on Sunday, the Parnells lads led the way from Cork and Tipperary after 60 team questions in the morning. Following 20 more individual questions on stage in the afternoon, Parnells just missed out on 1st place by 1 point. However, they had already secured their place in the All Ireland Final so the journey home from Cashel was made easier. Comhgairdeas leo agus go néirí leo i gcraobh na hÉireann!

Under 7 Boys and Girls

The return to outdoor training finally arrived for Tralee Parnells under 7’s last Friday in Caherslee. As the sun was shinning down on them the young returning players took to the familiar ground like ducks to water while also welcoming some new recruits into the fold.  With the coaches guiding them through the drill stations our young stars gave it all they had and more.  As always our training session ended with a few competitive games of hurling and the roar of Come On Parnells ! Congratulations to this weeks player of the week Timmy Sheehan, well done Timmy.

Senior Hurling

On a cold Friday evening under lights in Caherslee, Tralee Parnells senior hurlers suffered a home defeat to Ballyduff in Round 4 of the Co. Senior Hurling League.  Missing many of their starting players, this was always going to be a tough ask for Parnells.  The situation looked difficult from early on as Ballyduff scored within a minute of throw-in followed by a couple of missed frees for the home team. The visitors had the majority of the possession while a defensive scramble lead to Ballyduff scoring the only goal in this half.  Parnells finished the half with a nice score from midfielder Cillian Litchfield. Half Time: Tralee Parnells 0-3 Ballyduff 1-6

With some substitutions and positional changes at half time the second half started as a more even affair with Parnells gaining more possession in the middle of the field. Two points from Ballyduff were quickly followed by two points from Gearoid O’Doherty (Doc) from placed ball.  Unfortunately, this was quickly followed by another Ballyduff goal.  Parnells were not to be daunted and a long distance point from Killian O’Riordan on the wing spurred on the team.  Doc tapped over another free a few minutes later to try to close the gap.  Unfortunately this was to be the last score from Parnells as some defensive errors by the home team allowed Ballyduff to finish strongly with 2 goals and a point.  Final score: Tralee Parnells 0-7 Ballyduff 4-9 Scorers for Parnells: G. Doherty (0-5f), Cillian Litchfield (0-1), Killian O’Riordan (0-1) Team as they lined out: Mark Ryall, Jack Doyle, Tim Kelliher, Stephen Morrissey, Darragh Moloney, Ruairi O’Sullivan, John Downey, Tadhg Reen, Cillian Litchfield, Niall Cassidy, Gearoid O’Doherty, Andrew Morrissey, Donal O’Brien, Barry Lyons, Ronan Gilsenan.  Substitutes: Stephen Ryan for Donal O’Brien, Killian O’Riordan for John Downey
