Weekly Notes 20-7-22

U7 Hurling

The rivalry was mighty in Caherslee on the Friday the 8th July as the under 8 girls took on the under 7 boys in a friendly but competitive match.  All present were highly impressed with the skills displayed. The dedication these players and parents have to camogie and hurling is something to behold.  Congratulations to our players of the week Cillian Fitzmaurice and Killian McMahon, well done boys.

U8 Camogie

The U8 girls took part in the Cillard U8 Camogie Blitz at a sunny Kilmoyley on Saturday morning.  While the numbers were low due to the holiday season that did not deter the girls from giving their best. A few members of the Killarney joined to ensure we had a full team.  It was a great example of all working towards the same goal to have fun and enjoy the game of Camogie. Thank you to all of the parents who brought their girls out and to Cillard for their wonderful hosting.

U9 Hurling

Well done to our U9 boys who had three excellent games against Ballyheigue in Caherselee  on Tuesday evening. There was great progress on display by all players with a special mention to the U8s who have improved immensely in the last few weeks. Keep up the good work

U10 Camogie

Congratulations to all the U10’s (and special guests) who hosted Ballyduff on a beautiful sunny Wednesday evening in Caherslee. The two teams played in a very evenly contested battle and the girls were amazing! Thanks to Ballyduff for travelling to visit us in huge numbers and to Lana and Mike our referees.

U12 Hurling

In sweltering heat on Saturday morning Parnells hosted a five team U12 North Kerry hurling blitz in Caherslee. Despite the testing conditions we saw a marvellous display of hurling from all teams. In attendance were Tralee Parnells, Lixnaw, Causeway, Kilmoyley and Firies.  Thank you to all of those that helped out on the day.  Thank you also to our two referees Tadhg Reen and Orán Murphy.

U12 Camogie

Our U11 girls travelled to Causeway for a blitz on Saturday morning. They played really well and in true Parnells spirit some of the girls joined another team who didn’t have enough players.  The girls scored some nice goals and a point so the skills are really coming along. Thank you to all the parents who supported the team and who brought along ice pops at half time. The girls played well and should be proud of themselves. Thank you to Causeway for hosting the blitz.

U14 Camogie

The Parnells Amber team played round four of the U14 league against a very strong Causeway team. The girls worked really hard to progress the ball to the forwards and were unlucky not to get more on the scoreboard. They showed great teamwork and had a great 2nd half but unfortunately they couldn’t get the scores they deserved. The next round should be fun as they face Parnells Blues. We’ll have a split camp that night but we can expect lots of enjoyment playing our own squad!

Fun Day

Instead of the normal training sessions for our younger players, the managers and coaches organised a family fun event last Friday evening.  With twelve events to choose from the players had a great evening of fun and laughter.  Basking in glorious sunshine the boys and girls tried their hand at the obstacle course, potato & spoon race, tug of war, sack race, welly toss just to name a few of the challenges.  The huge effort put in by coaches, volunteers and parents really paid off as everyone seemed to enjoy the evening.  Thank you to you all who helped out. We are already looking forward to next years event !

U17s

After a great win last weekend against Kilgarvan our Minors faced St Brendans in the semi final of the Minor County Championship.  The match took place in Abbeydorney on Sunday morning.  Unfortunately, St Brendans proved too strong for us with a final score of 2-22 vs 0-7 for Parnells. We wish the best of luck to St Brendans in the final.

Intermediate Hurling

Our senior hurlers are through to the quarter finals of the Intermediate Championship where they will play Kilgarvan.  The match will take place this Wednesday evening 20th July at 7pm in Caherslee.  We look forward to a great turn out in Caherslee to support the team.  Best of luck to the players and to Kevin and his management team.  Parnells abu.
